Think Pink

To educate Women about breast health, Rush-Copley is pleased to present Think Pink, a program for women filled with health facts and fun.  Fatima Khan, M.D., will discuss smart screenings for women, and Moshen Anwar, M.D., a radiologist and Sharron Macon, Senior Mammography Technologist, will conduct an open Q&A session with attendees.

The event will include:

  • tours of Rush-Copley's mammography suites
  • bra fittings
  • pampering
  • a breast health Jeopardy challenge
  • prizes and a free gift for attending

No physician referral is necessary.  Appointments are available at the Women's Diagnostic Center, 2088 Ogden Ave., Aurora, and Rush-Copley Healthcare Center, 1100 West Veterans Parkway, Yorkville.  Request an appointment online or call 630-978-6750.

Tips for a Good Mammogram

  • Plan your mammogram for a time of the month when your breasts will be least tender.  Try to avoid the week before your period.
  • Don't wear talcum powder or deodorant on the day of your mammogram because these substances might show up as shadows on the x-rays, requiring repeat images.
  • If you've had mammograms done at another center, be sure to bring your previous mammogram films with you so they can be compared to the new ones.  If this is not done, an immediate report might not be possible.
  • Continue to have your mammograms done at the same center if possible so that your films can be compared from year to year.

Breast Cancer Support Group

People living with breast cancer, as well as family members and supporters, are invited to join this monthly peer support group and discover inspiration, hope and encouragement.

The support group meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Rush-Copley, 2000 Ogden Avenue, Aurora, Conference Room 6.
